Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of ‘Herald the Dawn‘ the sixth full-length album from French death metal duo MORGUE. Formed back in the late 90’s and known for the grinding brutal death style of that original ’97-’05 run, ‘Artgore‘ (2001) in particular, the band would reform in the late 2010’s and have been fairly prolific since. This latest album comes with the consistent momentum built between the two records that’d preceded it wherein their death-grind past remains an important part of its total thrust while compositions have sophisticated in shape year-over-year. Calling upon whopping grooves and blackened death atmosphere for coloration offers the listener a hammer within a spacious red room, an opportunity for calculated battery which echoes outward horrifying all. Or, in more practical terms the album’s fluxion between 90’s reminiscent grooves, trampling brutality and sinister atmosphere makes for an experience which is palpably ominous but never far from a novel riff or outright violence.

Thanks goes out to MORGUE, Godz ov War Productions, and their representation for the opportunity to share this album early.
