Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of “Disoriented Afterlife Existence” the latest featured track taken from Santa Ana, California-based death metal solo project CADAVEROUS ODOUR‘s debut full-length album ‘Sickening Hallucinations of Altered Existence‘. Formed as a solo project from Sasha Gallant of Depraver and Dimensionless back in 2023 and developed in grotesque alchemic combine Cadaverous Odour manifests a mutant form of grinding ‘old school’ death metal where dark and obscure USDM traits are brutalized via the gurgling madness of post-‘Symphonies of Sickness‘ European outliers of the early 90’s. The great feat of this debut is its combination of ragged, guttural traits with grinding and doomed affect, citing early Xysma, Infester and Disembowelment among others as indicators of their grimy ambitions.

Today we’re checking out “Disoriented Afterlife Existence”, one of the more doomed-out late album pieces which highlight ‘Sickening Hallucinations of Altered Existence‘ in its second half. Rather than construct tight, snapping deathgrind Gallant‘s efforts here reach for a doomed but no less ranting apparatus, creating a sort of sloshing tension as the distemper of their riffs rouse to a burst of grinding assault. Dank and grizzled production values generate their own subterranean force within this piece as whammy-gripping leads and low-set, deeper growls characterize the experience as somewhat off the cuff via its deranged flourishes. Though it is certainly a highlight on the grind through expect the full listen to immerse and envelope the senses well before this piece hits.

The reeking debut full-length by this U.S. band. Cadaverous Odour was brought forth by multi-instrumentalist Sasha Gallant in the summer of 2023 with the basic idea being to mix up some of the sounds he loves most in Death Metal: the murkiness of bands like Infester and early Incantation, the speed of bands like Incubus and Morbid Angel, the dark grindiness of Finnish bands like Agonized and Xysma, the weird leads from Necrophiliac, and the hypnotic mixture of Doom and Grind from Disembowelment. Although intended to be a side project, as Sasha’s main bands are Depraver and Dimensionless, Cadaverous Odour has been gaining traction as time passed by and its smell is way too rank to be left to waste. After three demos, which were compiled on the “Primordial Stench” CD released by Memento Mori in 2025, the time has come to propagate the infection on full-length mode with “Sickening Hallucinations of Altered Existence”. All hail festering and nauseating Death Metal!
