Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of “Fleshpot Ritual” the latest featured track taken from Reno, Nevada-based death metal/hardcore duo FOG WALL‘s debut album ‘Gloomweaver‘. A recent side project from two of the folks behind deathcore project SwampVVitch, their work is notably themed after the dark fantasy worlds of FromSoftware developed video games (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, etc.) and the bleaker side of Tolkien. These folks use modern hardcore’s percussive rhythmus to homebrew their own modern death metal sounds as we find on today’s featured track, “Fleshpot Ritual”, where they simultaneously delve into disturbing Elden Ring lore and sport a sound somewhere along the lines of stuff like Revocation and The Black Dahlia Murder. Don’t expect ‘old school’ death metal adjacency here as the band’s backbone is braced by fairly straightforward, unfussed deathcore handling. If Elden Ring lore videos and hardcore inspired modern metal is your kind of gig you’re definitely the mark for this third single from the band.

Reno (NV) – U.S. Death Metal duo FOG WALL are set to release debut album, Gloomweaver, on September 4!

Gloomweaver collects some of Tolkien’s most harrowing tales, as well as stories of the torturous, terrifying worlds depicted in the work of FromSoftware, the Japanese video game development studio. Included therein are everything from haunted fortresses to arachnid-shaped demons whose sole purpose is to eat the world, not to mention the forceful enclosure of humans into glass jars.

FOG WALL is the passion project of two lifelong friends – Zak Brady and Alex Malmquist. The duo draw inspiration from all things dark fantasy and horror. Combining their love of crushing evil riffs and heavy bass tones, they strive to conjure a new menace in a familiar genre.
