ENDTYMER | June 6th, 2025

ENDTYMER is the semi-weekly recap, occasional blogspace, and new release round-up column. It hits at the end of (most) every week with the intent of covering notable new releases, sharing news, and musing over various personal listening habits. It is largely informal, might contain opinions, etc. so chill out a bit. I do my best to cover as much of everything I receive in some form regardless of genre or representation, don’t hesitate to send anything and everything my way: grizzlybutts@hotmail.com

UPCOMING RELEASES

Catch up with the latest new release announcements for albums I am likely to cover.

DEHUMAN REIGNDawn of the Malefic Dominion [F.D.A. Records]

F.D.A. Records have announced the latest full-length album from Berlin, Germany-based death metal band DEHUMAN REIGN will release this coming July 25th. ‘Dawn of a Malefic Dominion‘ will release on CD, vinyl and digitally. This will be the third LP from the group and once again touts its own brutal take on USDM influenced sounds and plenty of riffs. I’ve enjoyed their stuff in the past but I think this one sounds particularly good, check it out over on Bandcamp:

Memento Mori have announced July 21st this year as the release date for Chilean death metal band CANCERBERO‘s third full-length album. ‘Sempiternal Decay‘ will release on CD format. The band’s lineup has changed once again but their sound remains pure thrashing death metal in the style of the late 80’s, stuff that fans of Mortem (Peru), Pentacle, and early Morbid Angel will appreciate. Check out the most recent preview song “Serpents Domain” and look forward to another track premiere (via this site) in a couple of weeks.

We are getting closer to the release of a new record from thrash metal legends SODOM as Steamhammer/SPV will release ‘The Arsonist’ this coming June 27th on all relevant formats and they have prepared a video for the song “Witchunter”, the band’s homage to their late drummer Chris Witchunter created by ex-Sodom guitarist Andy Brings. I’ve been enjoying this album and going back through their discography in the meantime so, lots of sentiment on this intentionally “old school” feeling album has me stoked to talk about it.

Swiss technical black/death metal band STORTREGN have announced the immediate release of a new EP titled ‘One Eternal‘ which contains one new song and a cover of Ozzy Osbourne‘s “Mr. Crowley”. They’re marking this as a new chapter, one which includes their first recordings with new vocalist Franck De Luca. They’re self-releasing this one on vinyl though they’re still very much signed to The Artisan Era and a new full-length is sure to be in the cards for the future. Always a very interesting band so definitely check out their unique take on blackened death. The EP should unlock on streaming at some point today.

Cirebon, Indonesia-based dark death metal act INCINERATED have announced their sophomore full-length album ‘The Epitome of Transgression‘ will release this coming July 14th once again by way of BlackSeed Productions. The album well be available on CD and vinyl formats. Their last release had been compared to groups like Degial and Obscure Burial, so expect fevered classicist death metal with its own thrashing dark streak. Check it out for yourself via this new song “Deciphering the Signs of Salvation”:

Mexico City, Mexico-based psychedelic doom troupe VINNUM SABBATHI have announced their latest EP ‘Intersatelital‘ will release this coming June 17th on cassette via Teschio Dischi and on 10″ vinyl by way of Stolen Body Records. ‘Música espacial mexicana del siglo XXI‘ is themed after “Mexico’s entry into the space age, inspired by the 1985 Morelos satellite missions and the country’s first astronaut, Dr. Rodolfo Neri Vela.” and I think these folks always do best when they’ve got a specific theme in mind. Check out the first track on the EP over on Bandcamp:

Atlanta, Georgia based “transcendent post-doom” band INSOMNIAC have signed to Blues Funeral Recordings for the release of their debut album ‘Om Moksha Ritam‘ this coming September 5th. The band features members of Zoroaster, Deceased and sets out to hypnotize and enlighten all whom fall into earshot. Check out their first single “Mountain”:

Switzerland-based post-metal band ZATOKREV have announced their latest full-length album, a double LP, will release this coming August 29th by way of Pelagic Records. ‘Bring Mirrors To The Surface‘ aims to “obliterate the past and conjures a previously unimagined future.” and in the process they’ve brough in many guests for the album, one such piece includes Inezona for the song “Blood” included below. The band commend on the album: “Our new album, completed in 2022, reflects a time of profound change and resilience. It’s a testament to how challenges were overcome and new beginnings were embraced, both personally and creatively. The fact that the new album is only released three years later is due in no small part to the overcoming of serious life challenges and profound changes. The new album is the follow-up to the previous album, Silk Spiders Underwater, where the story began. Now, Bring Mirrors To The Surface tells the story to its conclusion.” I don’t know this band all that well but I found this song interesting enough to share.

Finnish black metal act AZAZEL have teamed up with Primitive Reaction for the immediate release of several records from their discography alongside a brand new fourth studio album, ‘Ave Dominus Luciferi‘ which is available today. Expect pure old school black metal, plenty of malevolent grooves on this album. You can stream the whole deal now over on the label’s YouTube channel:
