Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of “Cadavers Emerge” the first preview song taken from ‘The Mortuary Hauntings‘, the sophomore full-length album from Sweden/North America spawned death metal trio HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY. This horror film obsessed vision of pure death metal from vocalist Mike Hrubovcak (ex-Monstrosity, Hypoxia), guitarist/bassist Rogga Johansson (Paganizer, Massacre, et al.) and drummer Mattias Fiebig continues to punish with its classic 90’s death metal style reap and refined depiction of supernatural horrors as they reach for album number two.

Our focus today is upon album opener “Cadavers Emerge” a kicking start which carves its harrowing tunnel into ‘The Mortuary Hauntings‘ with the re-animation of the dead by way of buzzing distortion and tremolo-picked riffs. Right off the bat you’ll note that the HM-2 bossed-up guitar sound of their first album (‘Rise of the Rotten‘, 2021) is traded for a no less toxic scrape of a rhythm guitar tone, still resolutely ‘old school’ in its crisply overdriven charge. The tone of the full album is perfectly set here with a classics-bound horror death metal sound which is appropriately dark and fuming with a relentless mid-paced kick to its ride as they gear up for an exploration of cursed realms, zombification taking hold in real time, and all portals to Hell opened.

Formed sometime around 2016, HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY is a supergroup that comprised of Swedish riffmeister Rogga Johansson (ex-Bone Gnawer, ex-Demiurg, Paganizer, etc) handling all guitars and bass, Mike Hrubovcak (ex-Monstrosity, ex-Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, Divine Rapture, etc) on vokills as well as Matthias Fiebig (Paganizer, ex-Ribspreader, etc) on drums.

The band name HOUSE BY THE CEMETARY was taken directly from the 1981 Fulci-directed cult horror film.
