Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of ‘Astral Imprisonment‘ the debut full-length album from Kediri, Indonesia-based death metalpunk quintet EVILBREED. In the best tradition of extreme metalpunk these folks’ve spent the last several years developing their own take on the fusion of ‘old school’ death metal and hardcore punk, a sound which’d been briefly reflected within a demo song back in 2024. This new album is a huge leap taken beyond that early concept, a cavernous and energetic attack which affords righteous treatment of each element of their core fusion. Fans of Black Breath, Doldrey and such will appreciate the aggressive, sometimes thrashing hand of the riffs here on ‘Astral Imprisonment‘ as they cut through these tightly ripped ~24 minutes but pay close attention to the more death metal leaning tendencies of certain pieces (“Cryptic Dominion”, “Obscured Sanctum”, “Sempiternal Veil”) where their early 90’s sensibilities kick in loudest.
