An Early Stream of FOSSILIZATION “Servo” from ‘Advent of Wounds’ LP (2026)PREMIERE

Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of “Servo” the latest single taken from São Paulo, Brazil-based death/doom metal duo FOSSILIZATION‘s sophomore full-length album ‘Advent of Wounds‘. What began as a seeming side-project among Jupiterian‘s ranks back in cursed year MMXX has evolved into horrified monstrosity of abyssal death over the course of (now) two full-length albums. With this second LP they’ve widened the mouth of the chasm of resonance, revealed more of their sinew-built machinery without losing the suffocating quality of their cavernous, doomed and at-times bestially summoned death metal sound. Our preview today, “Servo”, finds us at a point of passage mid-album after a fall from a high place and unto servitude to the oppressive divine. This ends up being a brilliant hingepoint on the full listen, a point of deeper descent and heightened doom after the four pieces prior ride a different wave of momentum. This effect is intentioned in service to the underlying theme of ‘Advent of Wounds‘ as bassist, guitarist, vocalist Thiago comments:

The opening riff of Servo was one of the very first ideas I wrote when I started working on the album. From the start, I envisioned it as a short, relentless track, focused on raw savagery, yet carrying an underlying apotheotic, epic aura. I also chose to keep the title in Portuguese, which I feel made it stronger and more deeply connected to the core of an atavistic hierarchy of servitude.

Thanks goes out to Everlasting Spew Records, Fossilization and their representatives for the opportunity to share this song early. Per the Press Release:

Emerging once again from the abyssal depths of the underground, FOSSILIZATION return with “Advent of Wounds”, a work of sheer ferocity and oppressive gloom! A relentless onslaught where its frantic and inexorable rhythms hammer with suffocating intensity, while riffs coil like sepulchral invocations in a maelstrom of death, doom, and blackened chaos.
Bleak, crushing and claustrophobic, “Advent of Wounds” is a summoning of despair that drags the listener into a chasm where brutality and anguish entwine. A suffocating testament to extremity that confirms Fossilization as one of the most formidable forces in contemporary death metal!

– “Advent of Wounds” began taking shape right after our tour with Father Befouled in late 2024. I knew I’d have to rethink my approach to songwriting, especially after years of writing with Paulo’s drumming style in mind. Life took us in different directions, so I opened myself up to new ideas and let that guide the creation of these tracks.
From the start, my goal was to make an album even more brutal than Leprous Daylight, from sheer death metal brutality to the miserable melancholy of the doom-laden spirit of early Anathema, Paradise Lost, and early Katatonia. You can also hear many of black metal influences across the record, the opening riff of ‘Disentombed and Reassembled by the Ages’ is a direct nod to one of my all-time favorite bands, Antaeus.
This time, I also wanted a new direction in the mix and master, so we worked with Gabriele Gramaglia (Cosmic Putrefaction, Turris Eburnea, Vertebra Atlantis). We also had Justin Stubbs (Father Befouled, Encoffination) appear on “Scalded by His Sacred Halo.” And, for the first time, the artwork features a painting instead of an illustration, created by the incredible Guang Yang.” – (V.)

Fossilization is a brazilian death metal band formed in 2020, a duo featuring members of the sludge/death/doom metal band Jupiterian, V. (voices, guitars, bass) and P. (drums).
Critically acclaimed for their debut Ep ‘He Whose Name Was Long Forgotten’, the Split Ep with US combo Ritual Necromancy and the following debut full length album “Leprous Daylight”, the Brazilian duo, after 2 years of intense live activities, is now back with their sophomore album “Advent Of Wounds” featuring a new line-up and allowing you to prepare your body and soul to their upcoming european tour with Phobocosm in August 2026!
