ENDTYMER is the semi-weekly recap, occasional blogspace, and new release round-up column. It hits at the end of (most) every week with the intent of covering notable new releases, sharing news, and musing over various personal listening habits. It is largely informal, might contain opinions, etc. so chill out a bit. I do my best to cover as much of everything I receive in some form regardless of genre or representation, don’t hesitate to send anything and everything my way: grizzlybutts@hotmail.com

ENDING-TYMER
It is time to pivot, I am bored with myself and it shows in recent writing and a lagging pace. Endtymer was originally started as a column intended to recap the week, notify folks of new releases and such but it was more vitally an outlet for rants and other (music related) interests which didn’t fit into the weekly grind of things. Over the last two years I’ve found absolutely nothing worth talking about (AI? Ozzy? etc.) all but the most necessary additions have been excised to the point of a purposeless weekly information glom. I’d rather create something I’d like to read than parrot information you probably get from social media anyhow. Otherwise the truth of the internet and the plebian stupefaction it generates is that one big post won’t have the same impact as three or four smaller ones. The last thing I’d like to become is a “content” creator slogging away… — But… if I am to be considered a content creator regardless of intent then I can definitely do better and more interesting things with the information given. So, I’ve chosen to shatter the idea of Endtymer into several fragmented pieces and move onto a different approach going forward. This also applies to Short Review features, Best of the Month lists, and End of the Year List coverage. Stay tuned, fuck off, do what you will.
UPCOMING RELEASES
Catch up with the latest new release announcements for albums I am likely to cover.

Black metal duo OUTLAW have announced the upcoming release of their fourth full-length album, ‘Opus Mortis‘, will release this coming October 31st once again by way of AOP Records. The band comment on the first single, “Through The Infinite Darkness”: “This song is closer to what we presented before, and that’s why we wanted to release it first. The rest of the album is a journey to something unexplored by us until now.” and part of this revelation is more pronounced use of ethereal keyboards as their own brand of atmospheric/melodic black metal continues to evolve. I enjoyed their previous album quite a bit and this is one of my more anticipated releases for next month.
Long-standing USDM legends DETERIOROT will return this year with another full-length album. Xtreem Music have announced they will release ‘Awakening‘ on all relevant formats this coming October 21st. Around since the early 90’s but with very long spans of time between each of their first three albums these folks still represent ‘old school’ death metal filth, imperfect and impure with some doomed affect infused. For now check out the latest single “Winter Moon” and see if this is your deal:
You might recall I’d been stoked on the debut from Warsaw, Poland-based technical/progressive thrash metal trio SPECIES back in 2022 and in the interim 20 Buck Spin‘ve signed them for a second LP. ‘Changeling’ will release on all relevant formats this coming September 19th and promises “A step up in every regard” where their interest in early death/thrash progressivity, underground European thrash metal and such all coalesce into and even more distinct sound. They’ve released two songs from the record so far, the second single being “Born of Stich and Flesh”, don’t miss the music video for the first single either. This one feels out of left field in the best possible way and I can’t wait to take a closer ear to the whole thing.
Iron Bonehead Productions have set October 31st as the release date for Swedish black metal band MALAKHIM‘s second full-length album. ‘And In Our Hearts the Devil Sings‘ will release on CD and vinyl LP formats. This time around we’re promised an even more “melodic and majestic” effort which is aggressive in the true way that’d defined their region’s contributions to the second-wave. Very impressed with this album so far. Check out “Solar Crucifixion”:
This coming September 19th Amor Fati Productions will release the sophomore full-length album from German black-death metal duo HADOPELAGYAL. ‘Haematophoryktos‘ will be available on CD and vinyl LP formats. Rather than try to describe the experience I’ll leave it to the press release: “Defiled with blood lingers the tidal presence; the death flood spits forth, sealing moans of judgement at the conquest of a black dawn. Descend into the torturous tranquility, extort aural uncreation from the gaping abyss, and behold the sanguine fires with your doomed eyes….” and I suppose I didn’t fully understand what these folks were all about when their 2022 record released so, this time I’m going to give their work some deeper delving and such in review. For now check out the latest preview track: “Litany of Saltridden Exudate Under Theosectrian Tides”
Signal Rex have announced October 17th as the release date for French black metal duo DYSYLUMN‘s fourth full-length album. ‘Abstraction‘ will release on CD and vinyl LP formats. This will be a more concise record compared to some of their more elaborate, or, lengthy records in the past at just ~37 minutes in length. Expect a challenging, heavily atmospheric work which continues their forlorn and introverted thread into its latest rant. I haven’t liked all of their stuff but I think this new track “Abstraction III” sounds promising:
Danish solo black metal project AFSKY have recently release “Natmaskinen” (“Nightmachine”) in announce of their upcoming album ‘Fællesskab‘ which releases this coming October 17th by way of the good folks over at Eisenwald. The song “confronts the spiritual starvation of people and sends a desperate farewell to a lost belief in the future.” and so far I am impressed with the sound of this single and its melodious style, a fitting moodiness for its subject matter or vision. Looking forward to how the full album turns out.
Toruń, Poland based black metal band ANGRRSTH have announced their sophomore full-length album ‘Złudnia‘ will release through another alliance with the fine folks over at Godz ov War Productions this coming October 10th. I was a big fan of their last two releases and so far this first preview song “Mane, Tekel, Fares” seems to be headed in a similar direction. Check the song out and see if they’re your thing:
Seattle, Washington-based heavy/speed metal band Sölicitör have announced their sophomore full-length album, ‘Enemy in Mirrors‘ will release this coming September 19th through Cruz Del Sur Music. The band comment on the record: “This album was built on blood, sweat and struggle, personal catastrophes and triumphs, division and uncertainty – ultimately pulled together by dedication to a long term vision and determination above all odds to deliver performances that will surely outlast our previous offerings. We believe in the integrity of these songs, as a representation of our evolution and arrival to this point. This album is darker, more melodic, much more expressive, personal, and may take some by surprise for better or worse. Themes of the paranormal, revenge and retribution, betrayal, and a steadfast commitment to heavy metal and all that has come before us as we continue to pursue and mark our place in a drastically different and ever changing landscape.” Yeah and they still smoke, maybe moreso after hearing this latest single “Iron Wolves of War” where I get huge “Euroshima”-era Laaz Rockit vibes from the vocalist’s vibrato and maybe a Pariah-esque attack to some parts. Check it out and see what you think:
FRIENDSHIP COMMANDER have shared a music video for the song “Midheaven” to promote their upcoming full-length album ‘BEAR‘ which is out on October 10th this year via Magnetic Eye Records. The video is cool and all but the song just kinda feels good, you can tell there is some unique inspiration happening within. The band’s guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Buick Audra comments: “MIDHEAVEN’ gets into this idea of being born under a certain set of stars, and whether or not that has anything to do with who we are. As a person who feels like a lifelong misfit with a nature I can’t seem to change, I’m curious about where that starts. Is it written from the start? I’m willing to believe anything at this point. Some days, it’s tempting to blame it all on the sky. In the vocal sections of the video, I’m dressed as a quasi-fortune teller because this song also addresses modern astrology and the weight some people place on it. It seems to almost exist as a get-out-of-jail-free card for human behavior, leaving us wholly unaccountable for our actions. I have questions about those who dole out answers, and why they do so. This is one of the most cinematic pieces of music we’ve ever recorded, so being in character for part of it seemed fitting.” and if nothing else it is a jam. Check it out yourself:
Portland, Oregon-based trio TITHE are still defying a certain sub-genre distinction but they’re only getting meaner over time as we approach their third full-length album. ‘Communion In Anguish‘ will release via Profound Lore Records this coming September 19th and could be considered a doomed-out and grimed-up grinding death metal beast. Was kind of tentative on their previous LP but I’m interested in this one after hearing “Burn the Throne of God”:
YOUTUBE / VIDEO REVIEWS
Please follow and subscribe to my YouTube Channel: youtube.com/@terraasymmetry
After a few years of video reviews and regular updates I am undecided how long I’ll continue with the post-review format. Being an entire month behind on video editing in August (working on 12 new ones today) isn’t a huge deal but I no longer have the free time needed to record and edit a video for each written review. Generally speaking: As I try to make more time for myself the site will adapt toward only the best stuff I encounter, if there are no notable releases — I got other shit to do. So for the rest of 2025 I’ll select only the stuff that I feel warrant some extra mention, analysis, or further developed thoughts.
