ENDTYMER is the semi-weekly recap, occasional blogspace, and new release round-up column. It hits at the end of (most) every week with the intent of covering notable new releases, sharing news, and musing over various personal listening habits. It is largely informal, might contain opinions, etc. so chill out a bit. I do my best to cover as much of everything I receive in some form regardless of genre or representation, don’t hesitate to send anything and everything my way: grizzlybutts@hotmail.com

UPCOMING RELEASES
Catch up with the latest new release announcements for albums I am likely to cover.

20 Buck Spin have announced their first release of 2025 as the self-titled debut LP from Austin, Texas-based death metal quartet, CORPUS OFFAL. This band formed after Cerebral Rot split and could be seen as a spiritual successor and something different all the same. Former members of that band include rancid core of guitarist/vocalist Ian Schwab (ex-Demoncy) and guitarist Clyle Lindstrom (Fetid, Caustic Wound), with a rhythm section that includes bassist Jason Sachs (ex-Demoncy) and drummer Jesse Shreibman (Bell Witch). Get ready for some ancient gore-grinding weirdness and freakery with this one. ‘Corpus Offal‘ will release on LP, CD, and digitally this coming March 21st. Check out the song “Corpus Offal” from the album ‘Corpus Offal‘ by Corpus Offal…
Creator-Destructor Records have announced they will release the debut full-length album from Oakland, California-based crossover band DOOMSDAY this coming March 28th. ‘Never Known Peace‘ will release on CD and LP. Formed by folks from the Bay Area metal and hardcore glom and their vocalist Charlie D., who kinda sounds like Freddy Cricien once in a while, comments: “Thank you for taking the time to listen to this. So much time, thought, and love has gone into this, and to finally have it coming out feels surreal. We wanted this to be a love letter to every record we grew up listening to, while still being us at the core. We hope that you love it just as much as we did making it. Riff City, baby.” I was not expecting to like this record but this is a pretty sweet way to make yourself known:
On May 16th this year F.D.A. Records will release the third album from Austrian quartet NEKRODEUS a group which includes members from Ellende, Karg, and more that crosses the pure intensity of many styles (black metal, grindcore, HC punk and death metal) on their latest album ‘Ruaß‘. Though they’d started out over a decade ago as a sludge/death metal kind of deal which developed into something far more original and outspoken over time. They’ve described it as a “[…] shapeshifting feast of crusty black metal punk, a diet of raw violence and moody atmosphere, scratching the itch between your reptilian brain and your emotional intelligence while biting back with its own set of rough-edged teeth” and that the perfect prompt for what the blitz of a first single “Volkscancer” brings:
Mexican speed metal band PHANTOM have announced their sophomore full-length album ‘Tyrants of Wrath‘ will release by way of the venerable High Roller Records this coming April 25th. The album will be available on all relevant formats. I’d missed their first album entirely so it’ll be cool to catch up with their gig thus far and I think this album is going to rule based on the music video for “Thunderbeast”, check it out:
Purity Through Fire have announced they will release the seventh full-length album from Finnish black metal wildmen GOATS OF DOOM. ‘INRI‘ will release on CD, vinyl LP, and A5 digipack formats this coming April 30th,. I love this band’s stuff and appreciate their tuneful melodicism, unpredictable rawed-up black metal furor and whatnot… in some ways it is wall-to-wall Suomi nox, part of an awesome traditional and in others it is just a good damn time. Stoked to check this album out after hearing “Kuoleman Iapset”:
Dusktone have announced the latest release from Italian black metal group MORCOLAC, ‘Sanguinaria‘ will release this coming March 28th. If you are not familiar with SadoMaster‘s style of worship it points directly at the Finnish stuff such as Satanic Warmaster and Warmoon Lord and not just the current symphonic focus of those melodious groups but the rawer side too. I was a fan of their last release and so far “Ominous Castledusk” points towards another victory:
Nameless Grave Records have announced they will release the debut full-length album from Colorado-based traditional heavy metal band CHAMBER MAGE this coming March 28th. ‘By Light of Emerald Gods‘ will release on CD and LP simultaneously. This troupe comes via folks squarely focused on anthemic battle-ready 80’s U.S. power metal style, so expect some vigor amidst a sound that strives to be worthy of the personae rich likes of Cirith Ungol, Manilla Road, and Visigoth. CD and LP March 28th. Haven’t listened to the whole thing yet but it was an immediate yep in previews.
San Francisco, California-based technical death metal band OMINOUS RUIN finally return with a sophomore full-length album, ‘Requiem‘. With a revised line-up and a new frontperson their whole energy is something different already. Once again the fine folks at Willowtip Records will release the album this coming May 9th on CD, vinyl, and digitally. While I’d really liked the straightforward tech-death clip of the first album this first single, “Seeds of Entropy”, has me curious where they take it:
Testimony Records have released a music video for “Blind” the first single taken from German melodic death metal band DESERTED FEAR‘s upcoming sixth full-length album, ‘Veins of Fire‘. The album will release on all relevant formats this coming April 25th. The band comment on this wild-ass music video: “Let’s imagine we had to kill our own food – could we do that? We know the suffering that comes with excessive meat consumption. Do we just ignore it? As a sausage band, keeping animals in our own gardens and neighborhoods raised these questions for us at some point. Today’s meat consumption is the result of a system that puts profit above animal welfare and destroys nature. In industrialised countries, we have hardly any contact with these animals. People used to be more conscious about keeping their own animals. Meat was something special. Today it is normal to buy cheap meat from discount stores and consume it every day. That more people are choosing to eat meat more consciously, or even do without it altogether, is an important development. These people often have to justify themselves at family gatherings and get laughed at instead of being listened to. We don’t want to lecture with our video for ‘Blind’, but we aim to make people think.” When these guys find a melodic hook they set it to fire, really enjoyed the simplicity of this song and the fucked up video along with it.
Italian funeral death/doom metal band TETRAMORPHE IMPURE have announced their debut full-length album, ‘The Sunset of Being‘ will release this coming April 18th by way of the brilliant folks over at Aesthetic Death. This project formed by way of musician Damien (Comando Praetorio), who’d played bass on Mortuary Drape‘s ‘Buried in Time‘ album, focuses on weilding a sound in the tradition of the best of death/doom metal relevant to funeral doom metal, as the artist explains: “…this album is a procession through darker corners of human experience. We intend to submerge the listener in a meditative state where they can reflect on the transient nature of existence, its desolation and dread. Work on these songs has taken over two years, with a focus on intentionally capturing the right feel and atmosphere in each moment. I would spend days experimenting with sounds until every passage had the raw intensity that I was aiming for. Bands like Decomposed, Disembowelment, Dusk, Evoken, Mournful Congregation, and Esoteric have left a big mark on my way of making music. Yet the inspiration of bands such as Dead Can Dance (especially ‘Within the Realm of a Dying Sun’) and Swans, plus being a huge fan of early Swedish and Finnish death metal – Demigod, Demilich, Convulse, Abhorrence, Gorement, Crematory, etc – are quite evident in our new album, adding a contrasting and primal edge to the sound.” And I feel like that is a ton to live up to, also a list which includes many of my favorite bands. You’ve got a considerable chunk of the album to witness here with the first preview song, “Night Chants”:
Adirondack Black Mass have announced they will release the upcoming debut full-length album from black/death metal band PYROMANCER. ‘Absolute Dominion by Fire‘ will release on CD and cassette tape this coming May 9th. The Kentucky-based duo sports folks from Tombstalker and Apocryphal Revelation, and anything related to those groups typically rules. The style is suggested as something along the lines of Profanatica, Mystifier, Rotting Christ, and Order From Chaos which I’m all in on. Check out “Perverse Immolation”:
