An Early Stream of ALEXEI BORISOV & VYACHESLAV ISMAGILOV ‘Khan’s Hallucinations’ (2025)PREMIERE

Today we have the privilege of sharing an early stream of ‘Khan’s Hallucinations‘ the second collaborative full-length album from electronic/industrial artists ALEXEI BORISOV (Astma, F.R.U.I.T.S., Notchnoi Prospekt, Peanbo) and VYACHESLAV ISMAGILOV (Deficit) which releases next Friday, March 7th on cassette tape via Wave Guardian Records.

Themed after the peaking psychosis of Genghis Khan at the height of his infamy this thirteen track album features abstract electronic noise, musique concrète which infuses its modulations with Uzbek folk rhythms and instruments alongside spoken word and field recordings. The stated intent of the album is to embody the voyage of an overworked body and mind, reaching the bursting extent of an ambitious and ruthless skull unto exhaustive delirium. Delirium is probably the best way to describe both the experience and the lingering effects of this truly axon-ripping, string plucking Penderecki-creeping experience as their disorienting and seemingly randomly generated percussion rich modulation creates an erratic psychic event in response. I found it was a challenge, a thrill and something evocative for the sake of the terrifying limit/verge of consciousness the work illustrates.

Thanks goes out to Alexei Borisov & Vyacheslav Ismagilov and Wave Guardian Records for the opportunity to share this album early. Scroll down to the Bandcamp embed below to finalize your descent… As always, please do your best to support the worldwide experimental music underground and grab a copy on Cassette and digitally on March 7th:

Per the press release:

“Hallucinations are images that arise in a person’s mind. Most often these are symptoms of a psychological illness. A person may also have auditory hallucinations. Healthy people can also experience hallucinations, but as a result of severe overwork of the body. If this condition is not uncommon for you, then you should consider treatment. This disc will not save you from possible hallucinations, but their amplification depends only on you.”

Khan’s Hallucinations is the second collaboration between electronic/industrial artists Alexei Borisov (ASTMA, F.R.U.I.T.S., Notchnoi Prospekt, Peanbo) and Vyacheslav Ismagilov (Deficit) again themed around the late Genghis Khan. Featuring thirteen tracks of abstract noise a la musique concrete incorporating Uzbek folk rhythm and instruments as well as electronics and spoken word, the album journeys through the psychosis of a ruler at the end of their reign being put through their own torments and being overstretched in their mental and physical capacity; relating to how similar ordeals evolve in the modern world. Abrupt percussion collides with collages of harsh noise and ambient recordings to convey the themes presented.

Alexei Borisov is forerunner of the Russian underground experimental scene and has worked with many artists in the scene. Based in Moscow Borisov continues to push the boundaries of improvisation, live and recorded performance. Vyacheslav Ismagilov, originally from Tashkent, Uzbekistan now based out of Kazan, Russia, creates electronic music with a heavy influence from his origins and culture of Uzbekistan resulting in a unique aural soundscape.
